JOB TITLE: Solution Architect/System Engineer
STATUS: Regular / Full-Time / Exempt
SALARY RANGE: Based on Experience
LOCATION: San Jose, CA or Remote

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Solution Architect is an accomplished solution architect with enterprise software skills and also preferably with data processing/analytics, edge computing or IoT skills. Experienced in leading technical projects with executives on data/IoT projects, business transformation and cost optimization derived from data analytics/processing and edge software. The Solution Architect is responsible for building and maintaining ‘trusted advisor’ relationships with senior client personnel within both business and IT organizations. The Solution Architect designs and delivers edge solutions exploiting the potential of analytics, edge computing, machine learning and other related technologies. Experience of developing software solutions (using major languages) will be highly beneficial. As part of a fast growing start-up the SA will also be involved in developing and implementing custom solutions for customers.

In addition, the Solution Architect has an outward-facing role at SWIM.AI, to participate in public dialogue about the rapidly changing landscape around virtualization and cloud, through blogs, white papers, articles, conference participation, and other thought leadership activities.

SAs must have senior level certifications from any of the leading vendors, such as Red Hat, VMware, Microsoft, Cisco, or EMC, with current consulting experience for Fortune 500 enterprises. The successful candidate will have proven experience in leading the sale and delivery of software, development of business cases, design of solution architectures, and complex software solutions that address technology, people/organization, and business change. In addition, a successful candidate must be able to understand complex IT and business problems and apply technology and product portfolio knowledge to solve customer problems in a consultative manner and articulate the advantages of edge analytics and software and technology solutions as well as explain the competitive advantage and ROI achieved through various alternatives.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sell and deliver high-impact software solutions through the use of edge computing/analytics/ML and other related technologies
  • Design solution architectures and develop solutions for edge data processing problems
  • Execute solution design and implementation of SWIM software; experience in heterogeneous environments preferred
  • Develop software solutions/scripts using the SWIM EDX software for customer situations.
  • Knowledge of algorithms and coding behind it
  • Develop business case, including ROI and TCO analysis
  • Lead client technical engagements, develop and execute POC/PILOT/Production projects with customers
  • Identify opportunities for engagement expansion within existing accounts
  • Engage in pre-sales architecture and business solution evaluations, for qualification and sales support of SWIM and partner services
  • Manage complex projects involving client, SWIM and other vendor personnel
  • Maintain a public-facing thought leadership presence, actively contributing to the public dialogue about virtualization and cloud services
  • Reports to the Chief Revenue Officer/Head of Sales

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced degree or equivalent; 12+ years of experience in software.
  • Development experience/familiarity (coding in Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++)
  • World-class technical skills and experience designing and implementing IT solutions
  • Extensive knowledge of the data market and the key vendor offerings
  • Technical knowledge of software architectures including SaaS and onsite
  • Excellent communication (written and oral in English) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience communicating value, progress, and metrics (status) of key projects to required stakeholders and diverse audiences (technical and business)
  • Ability to work as part of a geographically dispersed team
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%
